“Bo-Whoop” Trophy Event

A.H. FOX COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION INC.

www.foxcollectors.com

The A.H. Fox Collectors Association Inc. is pleased to offer our “Bo-Whoop” Trophy event for the first time ever at the Great Northeast Side X Side Classic tournament to be held at Hausmann’s Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays, Friendsville, PA on May 16, 17 and 18 – 2008.

Our trophy is named for the legendary 12 gauge, 32” barreled Super-Fox commissioned by Nash Buckingham for waterfowl hunting.  Bo-Whoop was personally built by noted barrelsmith Burt Becker and when it left the A.H. Fox Philadelphia factory, both barrels produced 90-percent patterns at 40 yards with coppered shot.  The name Bo-Whoop was coined because of the characteristic sound it made when fired, and it figured prominently in many of Buck’s sporting articles.  The gun was lost in 1948 when it was inadvertently left on a car fender during a field check by game officers.  The whereabouts of Bo-Whoop has been the stuff of legends ever since.

The A. H. Fox Collectors Association Inc. has commissioned a well appointed Bo-Whoop Trophy that will be engraved each year with the name of the annual winner of this event.  The winner will also receive a purse of $250. - to be paid by the Association.  In addition, the Bo-Whoop Trophy winner will be featured in our Association’s Newsletter “The Finest Gun in the World”.

Please visit www.hhhsc.net for complete information on the Great Northeast Side X Side tournament at Hidden Hollow, including travel and lodging.

The Bo-Whoop Trophy competition details are as follows:

1. A genuine Ansley H. Fox designed shotgun (Philadelphia, Utica-Savage, or CSMC) must be used for the event.  Fox “Model B” or clones do not qualify.

2. Competition is open to anyone.  You don’t have to be a member of the A. H. Fox Collectors Association Inc.  However members will shoot at a reduced cost.  Please consider joining if you are not currently a member.  Membership details are shown on our website (noted above), or you may join while at the Great Northeast Side X Side event at Hidden Hollow.

3. Each entry fee will entitle the participant to shoot 10 cartridges at five simultaneous pairs of targets (also known as a “true pair”).  You may enter more than once.  Each entry fee is $15.00 for AHFCA members and $20.00 for non-members.  The target presentation will be set appropriate for a long range waterfowl type gun such as Bo-Whoop.

4. Shooting will be witnessed by a Director or designee of the A. H. Fox Collector Association Inc., and the shooter’s score recorded on its official event scorecard.

5. Targets will be judged as “broken” as per NSCA rules – minimum of a visible chip - dust does not count as a visible chip.  Ruling by the A. H. Fox Collector Association official is FINAL).

6. Maximum shot size allowed for this event is 7-1/2 shot.  Maximum payload is 1-1/4 ounces.  Coppered shot may be used if desired.  The Association reserves the right to inspect all cartridges used.  One shot may be fired at each target of the pair, or both shots at one target.

7. A competitor may enter as many times as desired – new entry fee to be paid each time the competitor attempts the targets.  Signups will take place at the Great Northeast Side X Side Classic.  No pre-registration is necessary.

8. The winner will be determined by the highest number of broken targets in their first or any subsequent attempt at the 5 simultaneous pairs of targets.  Ties will be “shot off” for final winner status.

9. Ownership of the Bo-Whoop Trophy will remain with the Association.  NSCA rules will be used for anything not specifically noted herein.
